The closing date is 24 March 2025

Job summary

We are looking for an ambitious band 6 radiographer to join our team and work within the radiology department of the West Suffolk Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to provide a high standard of care to all patients.

The trust is currently planning the development of a brand-new hospital expected in 2030 which will see the Radiology department grow and so this is an exciting time to join us.

As a senior Radiographer you will expected to be pivotal in the day to day running of the department as well as supporting the band 5 radiographers in providing a safe and caring environment for our patients and staff.

Once training is complete it is expected that all radiographers will join an out of hours rota which includes working nights and weekend shifts covering emergency work 24/7 365 days of the year.

Successful candidates will be expected to rotate through all areas covered by the general radiography team. This includes ED work, inpatients/outpatients, theatres, fluoroscopy (including cath lab) and working at satellite locations.

We are a QSI accredited hospital and as a radiographer working here you would be expected to help maintain this accreditation through participation of audits and departmental quality improvements.

Main duties of the job

Applications are invited from suitably qualified radiographers (BSc in radiography or equivalent is essential). You must have the ability to communicate with all grades of staff and all patients groups, seeking advice as required. Along side this you will have excellent verbal and written communications and a patient orientated attitude reflecting the WSH Trust Values. You will also demonstrate the ability to work well under pressure and concentrate on tasks in a busy environment. Being able to work as part of a team and use your own initiative to prioritise tasks is essential.

We are keen for candidates to contact us prior to interview to discuss the role and opportunities available at the West Suffolk Hospital.

Many of our staff have worked at the West Suffolk for a number of years creating a real sense of community. Our QSI accreditation which we are extremely proud of demonstrates our commitment to quality care
