Job summary

My WiSH Charity is the local NHS Charity for West Suffolk and through its work enhances the wonderful care that our community receives at West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust. Since 2016 the charity has established itself under its current identify (My WiSH) which has seen it go from strength to strength thanks to our amazing community and our staff all wanting to support their local healthcare services.

We are seeking a new Head of Fundraising to lead the charity into the future.

You will be the organisation's lead expert regarding charitable fundraising and associated governance and organisational activity.

Working closely with the trustees, you will lead and shape the charity's work through developing and implementing a fundraising strategy and plan and the wider delivery of the team.

Whether it is with our community fundraisers, clinical teams, volunteers, Council of Governors, benefactors or wider stakeholders, you will build positive relationships between them and the charity to raise awareness of, and confidence in, the value and impact of the contribution that My WiSH makes to the patients and services across West Suffolk.

Main duties of the job

Work to ensure that a long-term fundraising and income strategy is in place, which can guide the My WiSH Charity in achieving its objectives

Lead the implementation of the strategy, including reviewing progress against the plan and set appropriate targets.

Develop operating policies to ensure programmes and activities are implemented effectively.

Demonstrate the value of the services provided and the impact of the Charity's work.

Bring leadership, clear direction and support to the fundraising team, ensuring that all volunteers and staff feel valued and supported

Lead by example, acting as a positive role model and responsibly at all times ensuring that actions to not bring the Charity or Trust into disrepute

Define and secure the resources (human, material and financial) needed to operate the fundraising function effectively

Lead, manage and support the fundraising team to maximise their personal contributions

Develop performance management processes that link the performance of all team members to the strategic direction of the Charity

Adult and paediatric community services, provided in collaboration with West Suffolk Alliance partners, include a range of nursing, therapy, specialist, and ongoing temporary care and rehabilitation, some at our Newmarket Community Hospital.

The post-holder is responsible for developing the Charitys long term fundraising and income development strategy; and supporting a business plan that supports the Trusts long term objectives. The role has strategic and operational responsibility for optimising income generation whilst ensuring the Charity complies with the law and regulations in respect of its fundraising function.

Acting as an ambassador for the Charity, the head of fundraising also provides a public face to campaigns and builds relationships with stakeholders in and outside the Trust. The role is a key link between the charity and internal and external stakeholders, and plays a key part in motivating and engaging volunteers, staff, beneficiaries and prospective donors.
