Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for us to expand our Radiology Appointments Team with a new Imaging Appointment Facilitator (IAF). The successful candidate will join a friendly group of staff, all highly trained to understand and organise a wide range of radiology appointments. The team are soon to take on the additional work from the Clinical Decisions Centre (CDC) which is due to open later this year.

We will accept part-time applications but the candidate must be able to work full days to ensure the all rota positions are covered fairly.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be part of the appointment team, each team member has a comprehensive understanding of and is able to book appointments for the following modalities:

  • X-ray
  • ultrasound
  • MRI
  • CT
  • Fluoroscopy
  • Nuclear Medicine.

IAFs must be aware of the contradictions for all examinations they are able to appoint to ensure the patient is suitable and safe for the examination. They are in daily communication with patients and relatives, in person and by telephone. They will be required to advise patients in all aspects of preparation for, and administration of their examinations. To include, but not be limited to, advice on contraception, menstrual dates, barium examinations and other issues of a private nature. IAFs assist the radiologists by vetting examinations ready for them to be appointed and manage the waiting lists, escalating potential breaches or issues as appropriate.

A working knowledge of the CRIS, the radiology appointment system, is welcomed but not essential. IAFs also use eCare, ICE and Outlook daily. An understanding of National target timescales would be beneficial.

We are looking for a person who can stay calm and respond to unexpected problems. It is important that they have a caring attitude and are team player. Attention to detail and good interpersonal skills are essential.
