Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join an already well-established training team delivering Conflict Resolution and Breakaway Training to staff at the West Suffolk Hospital Foundation Trust.

The successful candidate will also have the opportunity support our staff in there working environments with challenging patients and colleagues as well as support the Moving and Handling team with other possible training requirements.

Certificate of sponsorship

Please note that Certificate of Sponsorship is not available for this role as it does not meet the minimum salary requirements for the health and care visa (which is a sub category of the skilled worker visa). Currently the salary requirement is £23'200 per annum for the health and care or £38'700 per annum for the skilled worker route.

Main duties of the job

Teaching mandatory training Conflict Resolution to all staff at the West Suffolk Hospital within a patient face to face role.

Teach Breakaway training to staff who wish to attend as this is not mandatory.

All administrative duties relating to Updating ESR records, booking classes loading students on classes and advertising classes on ESR and green sheet.

STAFF CAR PARKING

Staff Car Parking on the West Suffolk Hospital Site is eligible for individuals working outside of the core hours, 07:00 - 18:30.

For individuals working within the core hours, the Trust offers parking off site at the Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club, which is serviced by a regular shuttle bus to and from the Hospital. Details of the bus timetable can be found in the on-line starter pack on the West Suffolk Hospital website.

This parking restriction does not apply if an individual is required to work on a weekend or if they are required to complete "on call" duties within their role.

The Personal Safety and Security Trainer is solely responsible for designing and delivering personal safety and security awareness training, including but not limited to: lone working; conflict resolution (CRT), breakaway and restrictive physical intervention (RPI) to all staff groups, either classroom based, ward based or at external locations. Whilst having a learning and development focus, you will work highly collaboratively with the security team as well as in close partnership with all Trust departments, senior and local managers and members of staff across the Trust, including in community locations.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

1. Subject matter expert responsible for designing, delivering and reviewing effective conflict resolution training, including breakaway training for all staff groups across the Trust, ensuring best practice behaviours and skills are transferred to the workplace.

2. Produce and implement plans to support the Trusts strategy for managing conflict resolution training and other associated programs.

3. Ensure that appropriate training for the use of force and physical skills is provided, including providing support and advice staff in the handling of challenging behaviour exhibited by patients or visitors, including those with neuro difference and dementia.

4. Provide instruction and supervision in the workplace for staff when requested.

5. Investigate and report on incidents involving challenging behaviour to make sure best practice is delivered.

6. Measure and monitor the effectiveness of all training and development activities, including maintaining comprehensive documentation to ensure compliance with training needs and professional requirements.

7. Liaise with the Medical Directorate to ensure that conflict resolution training is included in professional development programs for medical staff.

8. Assist and participate in auditing and assessing the physical skill of the security team members including planning and undertaking regular security team skills assessments.

9. Establish and maintain a skill base and monitoring of security team members skills, in line with training needs.

10. Review and analyse data from multiple sources to review the impact of training delivered in terms of trends related to reported incidents.
