Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mammographer/Radiographer with a keen interest in QA to join our team as lead QA Radiographer.

West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint a lead QA radiographer to take on the responsibility of overseeing the QA within the department. They will also take on the role of RPS for the unit.

This is a new role for our unit, introduced to coincide with our equipment replacement programme. This has seen new equipment in all mammography rooms including a second mobile and the introduction of Tomosynthesis and CESM. We currently have 3 different mammography manufacturers and 2 different ultrasound manufacturers.

You will be required to work with all colleagues, peers, and external parties to ensure successful delivery of the service.

The West Suffolk Breast Unit provides both symptomatic and screening services for the local population via the main hospital site and a mobile screening unit. The screening unit visits 8 sites on a yearly rotation, all staff are expected to rotate working on the van and on site.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will oversee the whole QA workflow including training of other staff and be an expert in this field.

The post holder will be a highly motivated mammographer with excellent team working abilities and highly proficient in all aspects of mammography. They should have an aptitude for QA and an ambitiousness to share this knowledge. Excellent communication skills and confidence in knowledge is vital for liaising with engineers or feedback locally and regionally.

Full mammography duties including working on the mobile van at various locations.

Must be professional, friendly and a team player.

The post holder will represent the unit both in house and regionally at meetings and study days.
