Job summary
An opportunity has arisen for
a Band 7 Senior Information Analyst to join the Information Team at West
Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust. This is a challenging and rewarding role, which
will allow you to help make a difference for our local community.
This role is required to support
the workload across various areas of the team, including project work for the
rollout of new operational systems and the implementation of a new Data
Warehouse commencing in 2023.
This will be a varied and
challenging role, for which we are looking for an exceptional candidate to work
within the team managing tight deadlines and communicating with a variety of
staff across the organization. The role will be very rewarding in using data to
make a difference for patient services, through our operational teams and data
submissions to external organizations.
The Senior Information
Analysts lead in encouraging the use of data, supporting and
enabling staff to readily obtain the information they require through the
Trusts chosen Business Intelligence Tools.
We are committed to developing

teams work closely together, sharing knowledge and technical advice in both
structured training and informal sessions.
The Information Team are
currently working in a hybrid way including both on site and remote working during
the week.

Main duties of the job
The Senior Information Analyst
will be required to lead on one of the operational divisions within the Trust.
This means that the post holder will take responsibility for specific areas of
activity, making recommendations for improvements where necessary in the
monitoring of activity, performance, data quality and data collection systems.
The successful candidate will
therefore develop expertise within these specific areas but will also be
expected to understand all areas of activity. The post holder will be expected
to develop both internal and external reports, whilst helping end-users
interpret the information provided. The Senior Information Analyst also manages
a team of staff working on the operational division workload.
With the implementation of a new
Data Warehouse brings the exciting opportunity to redesign the current
reporting and allow for more interactive data sources for end users. This is a
leadership role, so there is also the opportunity to train and develop junior
analysts within their team.

Job responsibilities:
1. Analytical and judgemental:
1.1. To provide Performance Dashboards for Trust Board,
Clinical Quality, Divisions and Operational Directorates and other departments
as required. To propose changes to these
dashboards to the relevant committees, to ensure these are reflect new national
goals and local requirements.
1.2. Support the Head of Information & Contracting
and Information Services Manager in the delivery of the Trusts Business
Intelligence (BI) Strategy. By
developing reporting through the Trusts Business Intelligence (BI) systems to
provide flexible on-line reporting that drills through into the detail of
performance and outcome measures.
1.3. Provide expert BI reporting and analytical support
to the Managers and Clinicians.
1.4. Carry out detailed analysis that addresses the
Trusts need to provide a greater insight into performance, supporting managers
and clinicians to deliver the challenging quality, performance and operational
targets.
1.5. Provide information and analytical advice to
Directors, Senior Managers and Clinicians, highlighting analysis of
trends/anomalies.
1.6. To lead on the production and development of routine
and operation information to support the Trust in monitoring key performance
targets relevant to the Division.
1.7. Working in conjunction with the Information Services
Managers, plan for and liaise with relevant managers in relation to develop new
data collection processes for new local and national requirements, such as
national data returns, contracting requirements or CQUINs. To ensure the new data collections are fit
for purpose to meeting the new requirements.
To lead on developing processes for extraction and storage of data for
new reporting requirements. To liaise
with the Data Warehouse Manager to schedule any development work if required.
1.8. Promote the importance of high-quality data in
delivering an effective analysis.

2.1. The postholder is responsible for managing the
workload of the Information Divisional Team, linking with the Information
Services Manager for any conflicts.
2.2. To participate in appropriate training and
development activities
3. Governance:
3.1. To manage the production of all external returns of
data relevant to the Information Divisional Team. To include all statutory returns and data
submissions. To ensure that Information reporting is maintained in line with
national guidance and local contract agreements.
3.2. To manage the regular processing of operational data
and National submissions relevant to the Information Divisional Team. To regularly review this data to ensure it
complies with the latest guidance and that data is complete and recorded in a
timely manner. Lead on implementing
changes, both within the processing and data collection systems as required.
3.3. To review the quality of this information regularly
and put processes in place to improve as necessary. To keep up to date with details about new
national returns and put in place processes to collect and report these are
required.
3.4. To be aware of and comply with departmental
procedures.
3.5. Ensure that confidentiality and security
considerations are met e.g. anonymisation of patient or staff data, use of
secure data transfer methods.
4. Leadership and management:
4.1. The post holder is responsible for the staff within
the relevant Information Divisional team, with direct line management to line
manage staff according to the policies and procedure of the Trust.
4.2. The management of the team includes: 1:1 meetings,
ensuring personal development plans are in place, setting objectives,
appraising performance, monitoring sickness and attendance.
4.3. To develop the analysis skills of the team, ensuring
they have the technical skills to analyse the data and the analytical techniques
to present that data in manner that provides meaningful information to the
Trust.
4.4. To participate in appraisals and personal reviews
and work to achieve agreed set objectives

5. Information Resources:

returns to NHS England, Regional Health Teams and Integrated Care System (ICS)
within the required deadlines and to the department standard.
5.3. Carry out information collation using BI systems,
Excel or other relevant tools on corporate and departmental data.
5.4. Respond to requests for ad-hoc or routine
information and presenting the data in an easy and readable format, adhering to
the department standard and to ensure exceptions and problems are escalated
where appropriate.
5.5. Combine data from multiple systems to enable
analysis and reporting.
5.6. Carry out data entry into spreadsheets and databases
as required, to provide for internal and external information demands.
5.7. Support validation and data quality standards within
the Trust.
