Job summary

We are looking for a compassionate and quality-driven nurse colleague to join our dermatology team.

This post offers an exciting opportunity to support and work with our dermatologists. The post holder will be working with 2 of the dermatologists that see children with dermatological conditions to provide and co-ordinate a supportive service for patients, carers and their families. This post holder will be working closely with the other nurses in the dermatology service and will be responsible for managing the children with a number of dermatology conditions in conjunction with a senior team of both nurses and doctors.

This is a Part time role for 22.5 hours per week.

Main duties of the job

The day-to-day work of the successful applicant will be located at the West Suffolk Hospital, mainly working in the outpatient setting, they will also be the requirement when necessary to see patients on the childrens ward.

1. Clinical1.1. To work as an autonomous practitioner to assess, monitor and evaluate treatment efficacy and management of the patient pathway.1.2. 1.13 To input into Paediatric dermatology ward patients, by providing support to the dermatology consultants, paediatric ward staff (on application of treatments/care plan) and parents during admission.

1.14 Child protection concerns: - discuss with consultant, Lead Nurse and follow Child Protection Procedures/protocols

1.15 To be aware of and undertake responsibilities with regard to Child Protection procedures (both national and local), liaising with the multidisciplinary team and working within the philosophy that the needs of the child are paramount.

2. Communication and Team Working2.1. Establish effective working relationships between the Dermatology service, the Paediatric service and other departments within the Trust, to promote the dissemination of information, knowledge and good practice.2.2.
