Acting as a role model, demonstrating high levels of clinical expertise. Providing leadership on clinical shifts, managing the staff, coordinating the shift and ensuring patient safety at all times.

Active involvement in quality data recording and audit collection in order to ensure the patients are receiving the best possible standards of care and monitor for areas of improvements.

Staff development is a key element to the role of a charge nurse/sister, supporting the nursing team to develop and learn and ensuring the competency of colleagues. Alongside this the successful applicant will be required to complete appraisals for the team members, identifying learning opportunities and areas for development.

Sickness management of the ward staff and ensuring efficient rostering system for the ward.
