Job summary

We are looking for a highly motivated enthusiastic colleague to lead the management of the pathology A&C team at a very exciting time as the department introduces Digital-Histopathology and moves to a new digital dictation and voice recognition package.

Main duties of the job

The responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:

  • Manage, day to day, the pathology administrative team, ensuring that workflow and output is managed to meet the needs of the service and Trust targets.
  • Provision of a wide range of administrative tasks and a comprehensive secretarial service, demonstrating proactive organisation of your own and other team members workloads.
  • Develop and manage working practices to ensure the delivery of an efficient and responsive service, encompassing new initiatives, policies and procedural changes and processes.
  • Take personal responsibility and initiative for assigned improvement projects, particularly as the department invests in technological advancements.
  • Engaging in professional interactions with staff at all levels, both in person and through phone and email communications.
  • Close working with Consultants, Lab staff and admin colleagues across the pathology department.
  • Delegated responsibility for the non-pay budget and pay budget for administration services.
  • Be a role model demonstrating professional behaviour and ensuring robust and open communication with all staff through regular meetings within your area.
