An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Recovery Team Leader within the James Paget University Hospitals Theatre Department. This role involves providing strong leadership and support in collaboration with the Theatre Manager within the Post-Operative Care Unit. As the post holder, you will have oversight and responsibility for your designated recovery team, working alongside an established and experienced Band 6 leadership group. Our department comprises 15 theatres, including dedicated eye and elective orthopaedic units, delivering both planned and emergency surgical services. Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will demonstrate confidence, competence, and professionalism while leading by example and empowering others. Key responsibilities include effective management of material resources and planning duty rosters that balance service needs with staff wellbeing. The role involves guiding colleagues in cost-effective working practices, driving evidence-based changes in clinical practice, and sharing learning gained from courses or study days. You will perform extended clinical duties following appropriate training such as venepuncture, cannulation, and ECGs. Strong communication within multidisciplinary teams, the ability to manage conflict and performance issues, and the delivery of meaningful appraisals for junior staff are essential. You will foster a supportive learning environment for staff and students, act as a patient advocate, and contribute as an effective link practitioner when required. Adherence to Trust and departmental policies, along with consistent promotion of patient dignity, safety, and high professional standards, is integral to this position.
