Senior Pharmacy Assistant - Ward Based

Job summary

This post is an exciting opportunity to evaluate the feasibility and utility of introducing Pharmacy Assistants to our Ward Pharmacy clinical service.

The aim of the role is to promote safe and timely discharge of patients through introducing and monitoring one stop dispensing practices, as well as reducing medicines waste through cancelling inappropriate medication orders and ensuring patient's own drugs (PODs) remain with the patient throughout their hospital journey.

This role will involve working closely with a Ward Pharmacist and Technician to help achieve these aims and strong teamworking skills will be key to becoming a successful applicant to this position.

Main duties of the job

To work on the wards in our Pharmacy satellites dispensing discharges and to undertake the in house training on POD's checking.

Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team or people orientated position.

Experience of working in a hospital environment.

Ability to prioritise.

Ability to understand the needs of patients/staff and respond accordingly.

Able to work as part of a team or as an individual with a flexible approach to duties.

Good written and oral communication skills.

Ability to demonstrate flexibility within the working environment.

Ability to work extra hours as required.

Adaptable and innovative in approach to work and projects.

Self-motivated, enthusiastic and willing to learn.
