Job summary
We are looking to employ an Imaging Senior Imaging Healthcare Assistant to work within the CT/MR Department at the James Paget University Hospital and within our CDC in Gorleston and the soon to be opened site in Yarmouth.
To provide support to the imaging team with clinical and direct patient care roles and clerical duties to assist patient flow, safety and experience. The role involves liaising with various areas of the Trust including wards/ED, clinics and porters displaying excellent conduct and communication with a professional manner at all times.
Main duties of the job
Working under the direction of a Registered Health Care Professional, SIDAs participate in the clinical care provided to patients, prioritising workload appropriately and developing competencies that safeguard practice and effectiveness in role. Specific duties and responsibilities.
This role is vital to the provision of clinical services and ensure that the departments working flow meets the needs of the patients attending our service. This role will also support patient preparation for imaging through cannulation and pre scanning checks. The role will vary every day depending on the area in which you are working and the patients attending the service.
CT/MRI is a growing team who provide diagnostic imaging at the highest level to support a wide range of clinical services throughout the trust. The person applying for this role should want to work in a dynamic and diverse team who have patient centred care as the focus of what they do.

- Work as part of a designated clinical team delivering care that focuses on the direct needs of the individual
- To be conversant with radiology information system (RIS), IPM, ward board and pathology result software in order to undertake clerical duties. When working out of hours tracking of the patient journey through the external party portal will be required in CT/MR
- Organise the daily room bookings and ensure an efficient patient flow through the imaging department from point of referral.
- Assist patients with toileting if required
- Support Moving and Handling, use of mobility aids, correct patient positioning
- Be aware of the patients needs emotional, social, physical, and cultural. Respect privacy, dignity and beliefs.
- Acts in a way that supports equality and diversity values.
- Work as part of the team in a co-operative, professional and constructive manner.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times
- Report any information regarding the wellbeing of the patients to the Registered Health Care Professional in a timely manner.
- To empower patients and their families to make their own decisions about health and choices. Work with patients and carers to aid a successful examination making reasonable adjustments, if necessary, to achieve that
- To undertake a range of clinical competencies, for example safe venepuncture and Cannulation as requested by the Registered Health Care Professional and have competencies checked annually by a Registered Healthcare Professional. Removal of cannulas according to policy with correct documentation will also be undertaken.
- To undertake the delivery of oxygen therapy, as required.
- At the request of the Registered Health Care Professional, perform and record physiological measurements within the remit of the SIDA role and report accurately to the Registered Health Care Professional, the assessment undertaken, on patients. This may include basic observations, NEWS2 scores , height and weight.
- Assist the Registered Health Care Professional in maintaining a clean environment
- Following the completion of appropriate training and assessment and under the direction of a registered health care professional undertake clinical activities such as ECG recording, blood glucose monitoring, assistance with sterile procedures.
- Provide and receive sensitive information concerning a patients medical condition.
- Act in accordance with all organisational policies and procedures and within expected values and behaviours. Each area will have local SOPs with associated compliance checklists that need to be undertaken daily.
- Actively participate in and attend unit meetings.
- Demonstrate good understanding of principles of consent and ensure valid consent is obtained prior to undertaking care procedures
- Demonstrate good understanding of the Mental Capacity Act / Deprivation of Liberties and applies principles to everyday practice seeking advice / guidance from the registered healthcare professional as required
