Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the DCU Urology Suite nursing team as a Nursing associate.

We are looking for a dynamic, motivated individual who works well under pressure and is committed to providing excellent high quality safe and effective care. If you have the skills, ability and drive to fulfil this role then we would like to hear from you

Main duties of the job

Preparation and running of the urology suite. Inputting information onto the computer.

Supporting the patient during and after the procedures, assisting the surgeon & teams in the urology suite, during template biopsies.

We are looking for somebody who is compassionate, caring and motivated with an active interest in urology and on the day treatment.

Preparation and running of the urology suite. Inputting information onto the computer.

Medicines management.

Assisting the surgeon in the urology suite, during treatments such as Template biopsies.

Supporting the patients through their procedures.Ensure that agreed standards of nursing practice within the ward/department area are maintained.

Ensure that all Trust, Divisional, and Ward/Department Health & Safety Policies are adhered to.

Mentorship/support of student nurses.

Education & Qualifications

Essential

  • Nursing Associate Foundation degree at academic level 5
  • NMC registration is required for this role

Desirable

  • Evidence of completing preceptorship programme post registration
  • Evidence of attendance at courses/study days post registration pertinent to speciality

Experience and knowledge

Essential

  • Experience (through placement or employment) of working in an acute clinical enviroment

Desirable

  • Experience within speciality may be advantageous
  • Evidence of competence in the clinical skill pertinent to speciality

Skills, abilities and competencies

Essential

  • Demonstrates understanding of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the nursing and interdisciplinary team, and the organisation, and how this may contribute to service development.
  • Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills. Ability to actively listen and communicate sensitive or difficult information in a clear and compassionate manner
  • Good attendance record in previous posts or during training.

  • Excellent timekeeping and a flexible approach to work. Able to participate with a rotating shift pattern
