Job summary

We are offering a fantastic opportunity to join our Gynaecology Oncology team. We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed professional who is already an experienced nurse with an interest in working with patients referred with a suspected gynaecology cancer.

Main duties of the job

This position primarily will implement and monitor the concept for straight to test for all 2 week wait referrals for the gynaecology oncology pathway although you will be expected to learn and cover other aspects of the service.

You will assist in providing high quality specialist nursing care to all patients and their families/carers from diagnosis, treatment and beyond. You will ensure that patients are supported throughout their journey as their key worker as a point of contact and supporting them to move forward.

About us

You will act as a resource for other healthcare professionals for gynaecology cancer treatments along with the wider multi-disciplinary team.

You will be joining a team who will support you in your gynaecology cancer care learning and experience, in return you will need to show commitment to self-direct your own studies to benefit the patients the team and yourself.Secondment will be considered with permission from your line manager.

  • Registered Nurse, educated to degree level or who can demonstrate the relevant experience within a gynaecology setting
  • Preparation for Mentorship or equivalent

Experience and knowledge

  • Minimum 2 years' post registration experience
  • Clinical experience in gynaecology nursing

Desirable

  • Experience in nurse led clinics
  • Proven management experience

Skills, abilities and competencies

Essential

  • Excellent communication/interpersonal skills
  • General IT skills
  • Excellent teaching skills including experience of teaching qualified nursing staff
  • Knowledge of National Standards and Government intiatives in Gynaecology
