Job summary

Reporting to the Deputy Director of People & Culture, the Head of People Experience, Learning & OD is an integral part of the People & Culture Leadership Team and has full accountability for leading the People Experience, EDI, Wellbeing, Learning & Organisational Development aspects of our organisational priorities and Trust People Plan, with a particular emphasis on creating a culture of great experience for everyone working here.

We know what makes the James Paget such a special place to receive care and to work is its people. Friendly, welcoming and caring are words often used to describe people's experiences of our hospital.

We know that great staff experience leads to great patient experience and better outcomes - and that's what we're all here for: building a healthier future together for our local population, clinically led and patient-centred.

Main duties of the job

This role will jointly lead with other members of the People & Culture Leadership team the transformational journey for the People and Culture Directorate, placing our people at the heart of everything we do; supporting high performance while emphasising our values of Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Empowerment and Support (CARES); and further building an environment where our people feel valued, knowing that both their mental and physical health and wellbeing is important to us.

This role will visibly lead our commitment to celebrate diversity, challenge inequity, and build an inclusive and healthy environment for every one of our employees at the trust.

About us

This is an exciting time to join us, as the James Paget is one of the NHS trusts identified nationally as a new hospital build site. The last few years has seen both the organisation and the People and Culture Directorate embark on a significant programme of organisation-wide transformation.

We are rated 'Good' by the CQC but have ambitions to be Outstanding. At the heart of the transformation are People Experience, Learning and OD priorities which require specialist leadership and expertise as well as the need to operate as a true strategic partner to key stakeholders, including Executives, Divisional, Clinical and Corporate Leadership Teams, in addition to our National, Regional and Norfolk & Waveney system partners.
