Job summary
Applications are sought for the post of Consultant Radiologist with a special interest in Breast Imaging. The applicant will require previous experience working within Breast Imaging, preferably with NHS experience. The job plan will include sessions in general radiology to maintain and develop cross-sectional imaging skills required to support the post. The Breast Unit at JPUH is situated adjacent to Broadland Suite, facilitating one stop diagnostic breast clinics. JPUH is also a national breast screening centre. There is a good working relationship between all specialties involved in the delivery of breast care, and the radiology department plays a key role in achieving cancer targets and maintaining the current high quality of care provided to our local population.
Main duties of the job
Routine activities will include diagnostic breast imaging, interventional procedures including Magseed localisation and vacuum excision, reporting of MRIs and staging scans, and weekly participation with a key role in the Breast MDT.
Breast screening and symptomatic mammography services are provided and a major refurbishment of the breast suite has recently been completed with installation of full field digital mammography equipment for both screening and symptomatic work.
The cross sectional imaging department has 3 working areas in the Trust. We have 2 Philips CT scanners with iterative recons -a Brilliance iCT 256 and an Ingenuity 128. We undertake cardiac scanning and are looking to develop a CTC service. In addition, the CT scanning service is supported by a mobile CT provider 5 days a week.
MR scanning is undergoing transformation and has a newly built department housing a Siemens Sola and soon to be delivered GE scanner - both 1.5t. This service is also supported by an external provider 7 days a week.
The hospital has funding for a DAC under the government roll out which will include additional imaging equipment and this should be operational from 2023.
