Our UKAS-accredited Microbiology Department processes over half a million samples annually, covering Bacteriology, Parasitology, Mycology, Serology, and a specialist Diagnostic Molecular Testing Suite.

This position requires participation in a 24/7 shift system, including night shifts, to ensure continuous service delivery.

To be eligible, you must be HCPC registered (or in the process of registration) as a Biomedical Scientist, with experience in a routine Microbiology Laboratory. Proficiency in UKAS standards, excellent computer literacy, and a keen attention to detail are essential. Main duties of the job

As a Biomedical Scientist in our team, you will:

Contribute to the efficient operation of a busy routine Microbiology Laboratory, including Bacteriology, Parasitology, Mycology, Serology, and Molecular Diagnostics.
Ensure all laboratory work is carried out to the highest standards, in compliance with UKAS accreditation.
Participate in regular appraisals, setting personal objectives aligned with the Department's business plan.
Provide support and training to Band 5 BMS, Associate Practitioners (AP), Assistant Technical Officers (ATO), and Trainee BMS staff as required.
Liaise with maintenance engineers regarding on-site work to ensure smooth laboratory operations.
