We are looking for enthusiastic applicants who would like to work in the challenging and changing world of sterilisation and decontamination, within the Sterile Services Department (SSD) at Peterborough City Hospital.

SSD is responsible for the complete decontamination of surgical instrument sets and flexible endoscopes used by the Clinicians within the Trust, and external customers, making the service we provide a vital one.

Therefore, we are looking for a hard-working, confident and capable individual looking to work within a busy but friendly environment, where the staff have a real pride in what they do.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for people who are able to work equally well within a team, or independently and unsupervised. You must have a good standard of literacy and numeracy, good communication skills, well organised and able to work under pressure.

You will be a valued member of our team, and whilst previous experience of Sterile Services and decontamination practices would be desirable, full training will be given on all aspects of the department, and ISO13485:2016 quality systems.

This role involves a lot of heavy lifting / manual handling, exposure to blood and bodily fluids, and working with chemicals and machinery. There is no involvement with patients.

The department is open:

Monday - Friday 06.00 - 19.15

Saturday & Bank Holidays 7.30 -16.00

The post holder will need to demonstrate flexibility in their approach to cover shifts variations to meet the ever-changing demands of the Service Users.
