Job summary

To support medical examiners in their role in scrutinising the circumstances and causes of death. To be a point of contact and source of advice for relatives of deceased patient, healthcare professionals and coroner and registration services.

Work closely with colleagues tin the community, including GPs to extend the ME service to cover all deaths by 9th September 2024.

Main duties of the job

You will be a point of contact and source of advice for relatives of deceased patients, healthcare professionals, coroner and registration services.

You will assist the Lead Medical Examiner officer in ensuring internal and external qualitative and quantitative key performance indicators are managed and achieved and work closely with the Mortuary and Bereavement team to provide the best experience for bereaved families

The posts are cross-site positions and will require regular attendance at both Peterborough City Hospital and Hinchingbrooke Hospital. Although, Hinchingbrooke Hospital will be your main base.

  • oEducated to bachelor's degree level or equivalent working knowledge in related field. e.g. Biomedical science, nursing, physician associate, paramedic
  • oCurrent registration e.g. HCPC or RCN

  • oThe ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including the recently bereaved

Experience

  • oExperience of working with people in sensitive and emotional situations

Desirable

  • oExperience of working in a healthcare setting with multi-disciplinary teams across organisational boundaries
