Job summary

Join Us in Shaping the Future of Urgent and Emergency Care!

This role is pivotal in supporting high-quality patient care by ensuring Nursing rotas are fully covered across the Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) and Emergency Department (ED) at both Hinchingbrooke and Peterborough sites. You will liaise with ED Lead Nurses, Service Managers for Urgent Care, ED Matron, UEC Head of Nursing, and the Trust Flexible Staffing Office.

As the primary rota contact for the Division, you will maintain a daily overview of ED/UTC nursing rotas, anticipate issues, and assist the Team in resolving them. Early escalation to the UEC Leadership Team is essential. With personnel at the heart of this role, strong communication skills are crucial.

Main duties of the job

  • Administer and communicate rotas for Nursing staff across both UEC sites.
  • Ensure maximum shift fill of UTC/ED nursing rotas with FSS.
  • Support day-to-day discussions and early escalation of gaps with the Urgent Care Leadership Team.
  • Communicate tactfully to maintain appropriate cover, coordinate annual and study leave, and arrange short-notice cover for sick leave, cancellations, and special leave.
  • Work closely with key relationships to address any rota issues across both sites.
  • Handle sensitive issues, such as sickness absence, promptly with the ED Lead Nurse/ED Shift Coordinator.
  • Serve as the main contact for daily nursing staff cover issues, escalating potential problems to relevant personnel.
  • Maintain the staff absence spreadsheet and notify the ED Lead Nurse/ED Shift Coordinator of any trends or escalations.
