Job summary

We are looking for a full-time (37.5 hrs per week) band 6 Senior Physiotherapist to work within our innovative paediatric team covering a maternity leave for 12 months from September. This job role would consider internal and external candidates on secondment, as well as fixed term. There is also scope for potential development opportunities between bandings.

The outpatient team is responsible for providing a quality service across all three sites (Peterborough City Hospital, Hinchingbrooke Hospital and Stamford Hospital) to a busy musculoskeletal out-patient department.

The in-patient team is responsible for providing cover to Amazon and Holly wards across Peterborough and Hinchinbrook consisting of a 30 bedded paediatric ward which includes a 2 bedded high dependency unit.

The therapy team is led by a Lead Therapist, supported by a Team Lead, MSK and Respiratory (including neonates and CF) Clinical Specialists in Paediatrics, as well as two other paediatric band 6 physiotherapy colleagues. The post is part of a rotation within specialities of respiratory, orthopaedics and rheumatology, each rotation lasting 9 months.

Main duties of the job

The senior physiotherapist working with the Paediatric Therapy Team provides clinical assessment to children referred to the service, making clinical decisions and treatment plans. The post holder will work applying sound knowledge and skills in the field of paediatric physiotherapy. Working within the paediatric multi-disciplinary team they will assess and treat patients, communicating with other professionals as appropriate. They will support and guide Band 5 and support staff in the management and delivery of therapeutic care plans

The post holder will ensure safe, efficient and effective delivery of patient focussed care in line with identified evidence based practice, local and national standards. To lead on service development, audit and assist in research initiatives to deliver on best practice evidence based care in line with trust and national priorities.
