We are looking for a specialist ENT Head and Neck Consultant Surgeon to complement our current ENT team undertaking sessions at both Hinchingbrooke Hospital and Peterborough City Hospital. Both hospital sites are accessible by road or train within easy commute distance from London, Cambridge, Leicester or Birmingham. We can offer a fixed-term 2-year contract.

In conjunction with colleagues, you will contribute to the development of ENT services as well as the teaching, training and Clinical Governance activities in the department. MDT attendance is mandatory.

You must be on the General Medical Council Specialist Register and have a proven record of accomplishment in this sub-specialty.

Main duties of the job

The sessional commitment is 10 PAs (8.5 DCC+ 1.5 SPA) including both outpatient and theatre where additional SPAs can be considered depending on additional roles undertaken. The job plan will be reviewed on an annual basis.

You will participate in 1 in 8 non-resident third on-call rota based at Peterborough City Hospital. ENT emergency services are based at the Peterborough City Hospital with daytime emergency cover at Hinchingbrooke Hospital.

You will provide ENT outpatient and theatre services at both sites. Future flexibility is expected to accommodate the growing demands of the expanding population.

You will have a continuing responsibility for the care of patients in your charge and the proper functioning of the service, allowing for all appropriate delegation to and training for the junior staff.

You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of your clinics and must ensure that in/outpatient services are covered during any planned absences.

All members of Consultant and honorary Consultants are expected to participate in Clinical Governance and Audit, meet annual training requirements, and satisfy the annual requirements for continuous professional development.
