The department operates a 24/7 working pattern, in which you will be required to participate.
Main duties of the job
This Assistant Technical Officer (ATO) post offers an exciting opportunity to work in aUKAS accredited Microbiologylaboratory.
The laboratory work encompasses the usual areas of Bacteriology, Parasitology, Mycology and Serology as well as a specialist Diagnostic Molecular testing suite.
As a Band 3 Assistant Technical Officer, you will participate in the laboratory testing procedures and provide technical support to Scientific staff within the Microbiology Department of Pathology. The department carries out approximately 500,000 investigations every year, providing service to all satellite units in the Peterborough area.
You should hold a GCSE in Maths and English (at grades A-C). A science based GCSE would be an advantage, as would previous experience working in a laboratory environment. You should be dextrous, possess good keyboard skills, be able to prioritise, be literate and numerate, with a flexible approach work.
