Job summary
To work within a clinical team alongside the Lead Nurse for ED, Shift Coordinator, Deputy Sister/Charge Nurse, Clinical teams, Matrons, Practice Development Team (PDT) and the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) to provide the highest quality care required to support each patient and family in their care pathway, whilst improving the patient experience, maintaining clinical credibility and disseminating knowledge.
Main duties of the job
- Assist with the provision of family centred care that incorporates the needs of all patients including children of all ages and stages of development.
- Work closely with patients and their families, being sensitive to their needs and promote family centred care within the department
- Carry out clinical tasks within level of competency.
- Uphold the values and reputation of your profession and the Trust at all times.
- Be open and candid with all service users about all aspects of care and treatment, including when any mistakes or harm have taken place.
- Have the courage to speak up and report where care, clinical practice, behaviours or values go against that as set by the Trust.
- Communicate effectively within the multidisciplinary team and other departments to ensure that patient care is well planned and co-ordinated.
- Promote health education for the patient and their family at all times.
- Handover the care of patients, when appropriate, to all members of the multidisciplinary team maintaining confidentiality at all times.
- Recognise the importance of the role of play in the care of children and young people and implement appropriate play strategies to support patients and their families.
- Provide direct supervision for patients presenting with mental health related presentations.
- Ensure the patients privacy and confidentiality at all times.
