Job summary
Have you considered developing your career in a place where your initiatives and skills are valued?
At North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, we will offer you every opportunity to succeed.
If you have a strong and driven passion for paediatrics and are eager to enhance your expertise and abilities, this position would be an excellent opportunity for you to join our dynamic and cohesive team of general paediatricians at Peterborough City Hospital, with the possibility of collaborating with colleagues at Hinchingbrooke Hospital.
This is a Locum post on a 6-month fixed-term contract with the possibility of extending.
As a Consultant Paediatrician with specialist interest in diabetes, you will join our paediatric diabetes and general team in delivering high quality inpatient and outpatient paediatric diabetes services. You will attend the paediatric outpatient service with 2 diabetes clinics and 1 general paediatric clinic per week.
We are encouraging and supporting you in developing further your special interest, as well as respecting your wellbeing. We will provide you with an office within the department shared with other consultant colleagues, as well as secretarial support.
Main duties of the job
The sessional commitments are 10 sessions per week. Any changes in the job plan will be negotiated with the Clinical Lead for the benefit of clinical service delivery.
You will be one of 12 general paediatric consultants on rota covering both general paediatrics and neonatology out of hours. In addition, you will attend multi-disciplinary diabetes clinics as well as general paediatric clinics.
As a senior member of the staff, you will teach and supervise trainee paediatricians and VTS trainees, as well as teaching medical students. You will be responsible of your own professional development, as well as of the junior staff you are managing.
Participation in clinical governance and in the National Paediatric Diabetes Audit programme is imperative. You will ensure that the guidelines are constantly revised and updated.
