Job summary
This is a replacement post, to provide services to the Theatres, Anaesthetics and Critical Care Clinical Business Unit in both Huntingdon and Peterborough, with the majority of the work at Hinchingbrooke Hospital in Huntingdon. Hinchingbrooke Healthcare NHS Trust and Peterborough & Stamford NHS Foundation Trust merged on 01 April 2017 to form the North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust.
The post is suitable for both General Anaesthetists and those with a Critical Care interest. The successful applicants will join a team of 18 Consultants (including this newly established posts) in Hinchingbrooke and 45 consultants in Peterborough.
The post is advertised on the basis of 12 PAs and any additional PAs will be subject to negotiation.
The appointee will take part in the resident Consultant on-Call rota in Hinchingbrooke.
The post-holder will be responsible to the Associate Divisional Director and accountable to the Chief Executive.
Main duties of the job
The distribution of workload and departmental planning in both Trusts requires a degree of flexibility from Consultant Anaesthetists. The work of this post is annualised and will consist of between 4 to 8 weekday clinical sessions per week.
The majority of work will be undertaken at Hinchingbrooke Hospital but, some work may be undertaken at Peterborough City Hospital.
Each week will have an agreed regular fixed non-clinical day. The core SPA time will be spent on administration, continued development of Anaesthetic services, attendance at planned departmental meetings, teaching and audit.
The post-holder, along with the other consultants, will be responsible for the provision of emergency Anaesthetic services
