North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust are seeking a highly motivated nurse to join our multidisciplinary team within the ENT Department as a Head and Neck Cancer Enhanced Nurse Practitioner.
This is an exciting opportunity for a nurse with enthusiasm, commitment, advanced communication skills and a desire to work with a well-established team to deliver a responsive & patient focussed service within this interesting and challenging speciality.
You will be expected to function as a patient advocate and to support the team on service development and ensure we continuously strive to improve the patient experience.
We seek applications from nurses who can demonstrate a sound understanding of the specialist requirements of this patient group and have the potential to develop the required knowledge and skills within a Band 7 role.
Main duties of the job
To effectively co-ordinate nursing care for patients with Head and Neck cancer.
To work in close collaboration with the multidisciplinary team in performing diagnostic tests and ensuring other investigations are carried out in a timely manner.
Provide relevant support, educational advice and counselling to patients, their families and other members of the multidisciplinary team regarding physical, psychological, social aspects of Head and Neck Cancer and subsequent treatments.
Actively participate in regional and local Head and Neck Cancer Groups making recommendations and implementing changes as appropriate.
To contribute to the development of services within the Head and Neck Clinical Business Unit.
To assist in the prioritisation of patients with regard to their Head and Neck cancer pathway. To provide a patient focussed service delivering direct care, supporting patients from diagnosis, during treatment and post discharge.
Support and improve quality of life for Head and Neck patients through education on the management and control of symptoms and offering ongoing support following diagnosis.
To support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service.
