Job summary
The Plastic Surgery Department at North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust are looking for a dynamic and experienced Consultant with a special interest in Hand Surgery to complement the current Plastic Surgery team.
Our service provides management of general plastic surgery, including a significant workload for skin cancer. In addition, we provide support for Colorectal and Gynaecology with perineal/pelvic reconstruction and the Trauma and Orthopaedic service in the management of lower limb and hand trauma and general soft tissue coverage.
You will work alongside our team of Consultants in providing a General Plastic Surgery Service with a particular focus on Skin Oncology as well as provide support for other specialities such as Maxillofacial, General Surgery, Gynaecology, Breast Surgery, ENT, Vascular and Trauma and Orthopaedics.
You will be expected to work across all three Trust sites, Peterborough, Hinchingbrooke and Stamford Hospitals.

Main duties of the job
The job plan has been created to include 10 PAs. You will undertake 8.5 Direct Clinical Care PA sessions in outpatient clinics and operating lists (local and general anaesthetics) per week and attend the weekly Skin Oncology Multidisciplinary Meeting.
There is currently no formal on-call commitment but, the team are expected to provide support for their patients where possible out of hours and to provide reviews for inpatient referrals.
You will work closely with the Consultant Dermatologists to support their Dermatology Skin Pathways and the newly emerging Skin Lesion Service to support skin cancer pathways. The Trust is also working towards the implementation of a Teledermatology Pathway which will also be supported by Plastic Surgery. Regular teleconferences occur with the regional MDM coordinated through Addenbrookes.
You will have a continuing responsibility for the care of patients in your charge and the proper functioning of the service. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the clinics and must ensure that in/outpatient services are covered during planned absences.
As members of the Consultant staff, you will contribute to the Medical Staff Committee and serve on other Hospital committees as required.
