Job summary
The Paediatric service within Family & Integrated Support Service (FISS) Directorate are seeking a confident, experienced individual to join our busy rota coordinator team. The team play a pivotal role within the service ensuring adequate medical staffing is maintained.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a flexible, motivated approach to work, as well as having a meticulous attention to detail in a role which requires the use of their own initiative. They need to be comfortable working with senior staff and management on a daily basis. The ability to work well under pressure is essential, with a good level of self-awareness, when to be assertive or compassionate and be able to find the right balance between the two.
Main duties of the job
Duties for this role would include good administrative practice to ensure a compliant rota and the ability to be responsive to enquiries. A good working knowledge of Microsoft Office is essential, as is word processing and communication skills. Previous experience working on medical rotas within the NHS would be advantageous, however training and support would be given to the successful candidate. The role is rewarding and challenging; the successful candidate will need to be extremely organised and able to meet tight deadlines.

- Be responsible for the co-ordination of consultants and junior medical staff across specialities. Specifically, the post holder will compile and disseminate rotas for the medical staff and act as a single point of contact for junior doctors for this purpose.
- The post holder will provide day to day support for consultants and junior medical staff within the Paediatric service.
- The post holder must communicate tactfully and persuasively with all medical staff to maintain appropriate cover of the Paediatric service at all times. This includes the coordination of all consultants and junior medical staff annual and study leave, in accordance with Trust Policy, to allow service requirements to be met and arranging cover at short notice for sick leave and special leave.
- Liaise on any sensitive issues, such as sickness absence, compassionate leave or other sensitive information that the post holder has been made aware of. This should be done in a timely manner with the Clinical Lead and Clinical Supervisor.
