Job summary
The Palliative Medicine consultants' team is welcoming a specialist Consultant on a part time basis to provide specialised palliative care to our local communities across the Peterborough area. This is a substantive role split between Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice, Peterborough City Hospital and Stamford Hospital.
Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice provides specialist palliative care services to a wide local area including the people of North Cambridgeshire, South Lincolnshire, Rutland and East Northamptonshire. The multidisciplinary team comprises of a medical team, nursing team, psychological support, family support, befriending and bereavement services, physical and complementary therapies, spiritual care, hospice at home and education services.
At Peterborough City Hospital, you will join a supportive and diverse team of 3 Palliative Medicine Consultants, hospital Specialist Palliative Care nurses and a Clinical Psychologist, working across North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust with 1 of the Consultants also working 0.5 WTE at Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall.
You will be fully registered with the GMC and have a CCT in Palliative Medicine or be within six months of award of CCT at the time of interview.

Main duties of the job
The job plan is anticipated to contain 8 programmed activities: 6PAs at Thorpe Hall Hospice, 1PA providing an Outpatient Clinic at Stamford and Rutland Hospital and 1PA providing support to the hospital specialist Palliative Care team at Peterborough City Hospital.
You will join the second on call rota shared as part of a regional rota, currently category B, 1:7 weeknights and weekends.
You will ensure the good practice guidelines are followed. In addition, you will provide supervision and training to junior medical staff as well as teaching the undergraduate and other professional groups. We will provide you with the opportunity to be educational supervisor to specialty registrar at the hospice.
You will be expected to maintain your education and high standards of work through CPD appropriate to area of practice. We shall provide you the support and resources in pursuing your personal and professional development. We offer great Library Services Manager and assistance to support you in carrying out literature searches via MEDLINE and accessing books and journals.
