Consultant Medical Microbiologist Microbiology (Locum)

North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust is looking to appoint a long term Locum Consultant Microbiologist. You will be joining one full time and one part time Microbiologist to undertake a comprehensive range of microbiological studies to provide a high quality service to hospital clinicians and general practitioners.

You will be part of the Infection Control Team and provide epidemiological and microbiological support to the Consultants in Communicable Disease Control and the Environmental Health Departments of several local authorities. The UKAS 15189 accredited, state of the art laboratory is at Peterborough City Hospital however successful applicants will be required to provide services to all our acute and community hospital sites.

You will be part of the Infection Control Team and provide epidemiological and microbiological support to the Consultants in Communicable Disease Control and the Environmental Health Departments of several local authorities. This post is based within the UKAS 15189 accredited, state of the art laboratory at Peterborough City Hospital.

Peterborough City Hospital (PCH) is a-state-of-the-art hospital built in 2010 with 612 beds, 57% of which are in single, en-suite rooms. It offers services for patients which were not previously available in Peterborough - the most significant being that most cancer patients will no longer have to make the journey to hospitals further afield for radiotherapy. There is also an expanded cardiac unit, an emergency centre with a separate children's assessment unit, a renal unit with 17 renal dialysis stations, 18 state-of-the-art theatres and a Woman and Children's unit that incorporates the children's wards, maternity, neonatal intensive care, gynaecology and the breast unit.

STAMFORD AND RUTLAND HOSPITAL

The Stamford and Rutland Hospital, in Stamford (13 miles north of Peterborough) joined Peterborough Hospitals NHS Trust on 1 April 2002. The hospital houses a minor injuries unit (not 24 hours) together with x-ray facilities, therapy and a small phlebotomy unit supplying services to Stamford Hospital and local GP surgeries. There are no resident anaesthetists and senior anaesthetists that service the operating lists. There is a resident medical officer.

HINCHINGBROOKE HOSPITAL

Hinchingbrooke Hospital is a 304-bed district general hospital located at Hinchingbrooke Park in Huntingdon. The hospital opened in 1983 and provides a wide range of specialties.
