Job summary
Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with Special Interest in Urogynaecology.
Applications are invited for the above posts at North West Anglia Foundation Trust (NWAFT). It is expected that the successful candidate will be predominantly site based at Peterborough or Hinchingbrooke but will be working across sites as per job plan.
The post will be allocated after the interview process taking into consideration the candidate's preference and the site's needs.
This appointment will be made in accordance with the terms and conditions of service for the 2003 consultant contract (England).
Our service is forward thinking, with a continual improvement culture. We were rated the top unit for Gynaecology and Obstetric training, we achieved CNST year 3, and rank 3rd in the region for compliance with Ockendon.
NWAFT serves a diverse and fast growing population of 700,000 people, and employs around 6,000 staff. It is commissioned from Peterborough and Cambridge CCG, South Lincolnshire CCG and NHS England.
Main duties of the job
Both hospitals; Peterborough and Hinchingbrooke have fully equipped obstetric and midwifery led birthing units, fetal medicine scanning and high risk obstetric services in addition to high quality modern inpatient and outpatient Gynaecology services. The Maternity IT system is K2 with all 3 modules- Antenatal, Intrapartum and Postnatal.
Hinchingbrooke Hospital (HH) has a credible reputation for its personal approach to the provision of maternity services and the excellent care provided for women and their families. There are about 2000 births per annum with caesarean section rate below 25%. The Unit has achieved CNST Level 3 and scored Good in the latest CQC review. It has achieved UNICEF Level 3 for Breast Feeding Initiative (BFI). It has a midwifery led birthing unit alongside the Consultant led Obstetric Unit. It achieved BSUG accreditation in 2014.
About us
Peterborough City Hospital (PCH) delivers around 5000 women per annum, which represents an increase of 10% over the last 2 years. The Maternity footprint is designed to accommodate 6000 births eventually. PCH has a very popular Midwifery-led birthing Unit (MLBU) which is alongside the Consultant led Unit. The local demographic trend is increasing at an anticipated 300 births per annum. The C/S rate was 24.5% last year, below the national average.
The standard job plan is of 10 programmed activities (PA's) including a 1 in 12 on call rota covering Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Peterborough City Hospital and a 1 in 8 rota at Hinchingbrooke Hospital.
