Royal Papworth Charity exists to transform the experience of patients, families and staff at one of the world's leading heart and lung hospitals. Through the generosity of our supporters, we fund projects that go above and beyond NHS provision -- creating exceptional environments, advancing innovation, and supporting the wellbeing of those who rely on Royal Papworth Hospital.
We are now launching an exciting new programme: Brighter Spaces for Brighter Futures, a major investment in improving rest, recovery and reflection spaces across the hospital. To bring this vision to life, we are recruiting an experienced and motivated Project Manager to lead delivery of this ambitious programme.
About the role
As Project Manager, you will take responsibility for the successful delivery of a portfolio of charity funded projects, including:
*Enhancing staff rest facilities
*Improving patient day rooms
*Creating or upgrading outdoor reflection spaces
*Developing a new Charity Hub

Main duties of the job
You will lead the planning, coordination and delivery of projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget and to a high standard. Working across the charity, Trust teams, clinicians, estates, digital, volunteers and patient representatives, you will bring people together, build consensus and keep delivery on track. The role requires excellent communication, strong stakeholder management and the confidence to make decisions, manage risks and drive progress. You will have delegated authority to act independently and ensure interdependencies are managed effectively.
Key responsibilities
Project planning & delivery
* Develop and maintain project and implementation plans
* Coordinate workstreams and manage interdependencies
* Organise meetings, workshops and steering groups
* Monitor progress, adjust plans and escalate risks
* Produce project documentation and reports
Stakeholder engagement
* Build strong relationships with stakeholders
* Communicate complex or sensitive information clearly
* Lead engagement and communication plans
* Facilitate workshops to gather insight and shape solutions
Financial & resource management
* Monitor budgets and ensure spend remains within limits
* Support business cases and feasibility work
* Lead procurement of equipment, services and facilities
Information & governance
* Maintain accurate project data and reporting
* Ensure compliance with Trust policies and national guidance
* Support continuous improvement and lessons learned

Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is the UK's leading heart and lung hospital, delivering care to more than 50,000 patients a year in its new state-of-the-art hospital in Cambridge. We perform the most heart and/or lung transplants in the UK and carried out the UK's first successful heart transplant in 1979. It also offers emergency heart attack treatment, sleep centre care and is one of just five centres nationally for those in severe respiratory failure.
