Reporting directly to the Chief Executive and a key member of the Board, you will set the strategic direction for all aspects of Workforce and Organisational Development. Leading the design and delivery of an ambitious workforce strategy that fosters inclusion and belonging, supports the delivery of excellent patient care and builds leadership capability at every level.
We are seeking an outstanding skilled and compassionate leader with the experience and skills to drive excellence across the full range of workforce services from workforce planning, recruitment and retention, to learning, development and cultural transformation.

Main duties of the job
As a member of the RPH's Trust Board, the Director of Workforce and OD will be responsible for providing senior operational leadership and contributing to the strategic direction and service development of the Trust. You will be accountable for:
- Leading the development and implementation of the Workforce Strategy.
- Providing expert support and advice to the Chief Executive, the Chairman and the Board on complex matters relating to workforce and OD across the Trust.
- Overseeing the hospital's day-to-day operations in conjunction with fellow executive directors to ensure that performance targets, national standards, and regulatory requirements are met or exceeded
- Provide executive sponsorship to major organisational programmes that support the implementation of the Trust's Strategy.
- Provide line management and leadership to the Workforce Directorate and the Corporate Governance Team ensuring that they provide professional and high quality services.
- Champion an inclusive, empowering culture for Royal Papworth's workforce
- Contribute to ensuring that the Trust has a high quality, affordable workforce which is organised effectively to achieve the Trust's objectives in the delivery of patient care and financial sustainability.
You will work closely with the Trust Board, Executive Team, our clinical teams, and partner bodies to ensure that effective governance and compliance with all regulatory body requirements is embedded within clinical and operational management.

- Substantial senior leadership experience in the NHS or other public sector organisation, ideally at Board or very senior management level.
- Demonstrable understanding of the structure and framework of the NHS and how the Trust delivers care within this.
- A track record of leading significant change programmes and strategic initiatives that have improved patient outcomes, service quality, and organisational performance.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the concepts and practices of integrated workforce planning in complex organisations, analysing, synthesising and using complex data as the basis for strategic and tactical decisions, and scenario planning.
- Exceptional ability to inspire, motivate and develop teams. Experience of successfully managing multidisciplinary teams or departments and fostering an open, improvement-focused culture.
