Healthcare support worker - Day Ward

A full time opportunity has arisen for you within our Day Ward department for a band 3 healthcare support worker. Our Day Ward is a busy nurse-led unit, admitting, recovering and safely discharging up to 46 patients a day for elective cardiac and thoracic investigations and procedures.

Day Ward is a fast paced ward, with an ever changing workload-working across the Trust to facilitate flow.

If you are searching for a better work-life balance, then day ward might be the place for you. We are open Monday to Friday from 06:45 to 20:00.

Whilst you may have experience in a care or hospital setting you may not have completed your Care Certificate, which is essential for this role. If so we would still like you to apply and if offered a post you will be employed initially on a band 2 salary, pay step 1 but on completion of the Care Certificate (generally within 12-16 weeks) you would move to the Band 3 salary, pay step 1

Main duties of the job

As part of your role, you would be:

*Admitting and preparing patients for their procedures

*Performing venepuncture, 12 lead ECGs and other specialist skills.

*Facilitating an enhanced recovery and criteria led discharge

*Working within the discharge lounge to facilitate safe discharge across the hospital
