Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced speciality trainee to join the research team in the Pulmonary Vascular Diseases Unit based in the R&D department in the Victor Philip Dahdaleh Heart & Lung Research Institute (VPD-HLRI).

The Pulmonary Vascular Diseases Unit (PVDU) is part of the specialist thoracic medical services at Royal Papworth Hospital. The Unit is a designated national centre for the management of patients with severe pulmonary hypertension and is the only centre in the UK providing pulmonary endarterectomy and pulmonary balloon angioplasty for chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension. Applicants will be required to hold MRCP or equivalent and have experience in thoracic medicine or cardiology at specialist trainee level or equivalent. The successful candidate will support ongoing research in translational and experimental medicine in patients with pulmonary hypertension. The role will be for a period of 12 months and we are looking to appoint as soon as possible.

Main duties of the job

1.The post-holder will gain experience in clinical trials and experimental medicine and will be responsible as a named sub-investigator for delivering high quality trials across a portfolio of pulmonary hypertension trials.

2.The post holder will have responsibility for assisting in clinical research studies conducted within area of responsibility, ensuring that studies are run to the highest standards incorporating Good Clinical Practice Guidelines.

3.The successful applicant will contribute to research in digital studies looking to define endpoints and novel treatments that can be adopted in a "patient-centred" care model.
