Service Manager - Elective Recovery

This role is an exciting opportunity to work within Royal Papworth Hospital. Our Thoracic Operations Team lead, manage and support our specialist team to treat Thoracic patients under 5 specialities, RSSC, CCLI, PVDU, Oncology, ILD.

The post holder will work with the operational team to ensure compliance with waiting times and other targets within the Thoracic and Ambulatory Division, leading on one or more projects to support delivery of the Elective Recovery objectives.

The post holder will work closely with the Operations Managers and Divisional Operations Director to operationally manage the service, plan and audit service developments, contributing towards business plans which align with the trust strategy.

This will include responsibility for all aspects of planning, including service planning, project management and the production of business cases, ensuring that there are systems in place to monitor and measure Divisional and Specialty performance. They will have direct responsibility for ensuring that resources are utilised efficiently. The Service Manager will be responsible for providing regular updates on performance and the escalation of issues which hinder the delivery of a smooth patient pathway to the Divisional Triumvirate.

Working together with the clinical teams you will be responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of a range of operational and quality standards. An excellent knowledge of the 18-week referral to treat pathway is essential, as well as the elective recovery agenda. You will be actively involved in the development of care pathways that will improve the quality of services we are able to offer to our patients.

The role demands excellent prioritisation skills, problem-solving abilities and a collaborative approach. You will have experience in management/leadership with an eye for detail and excellent interpersonal skills with proven experience of working operationally in an NHS environment.
