Job summary

This is your opportunity to lead a transformative Allied Health Professional (AHP) workforce programme across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Integrated Care System (ICS), Funded by NHS England and hosted by Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. This hands-on role will drive innovation, collaboration, and real change for AHPs. You'll work alongside the C&P AHP Council, and the system workforce teams to deliver on key priorities - think leadership development, staff retention, support worker growth, return-to-practice initiatives, apprenticeships, boosting education capacity, championing diversity, and re-establishing our AHP Faculty. The role spans the following domains; Supply Optimisation, Educator Career Framework Preceptorship Models, Support Worker Development, Workforce Equality & Upskilling, Professional Advocacy. You will shape and manage these initiatives in line with our ICS workforce strategy and the Joint Forward Plan. Key duties include providing strategic leadership to the AHP Faculty and the AHP Council; reporting progress to senior leaders; and crafting a robust plan to grow and diversify our AHP talent pool. Main duties of the job

The post holder will lead and manage AHP workforce programmes across the ICS, translating the AHP Council's strategic priorities, the ICS Joint Forward Plan, and NHSE's Long Term Workforce Plan into local action. They will identify and implement innovative, collaborative working models while mapping current AHP activities across the ICS footprint and benchmarking against national best practices. In partnership with ICS Chief AHPs, education leads, higher education institutions, and administrative teams, they will develop and implement protocols, procedures, and quality standards to support education and development. They will track expenditures, and demonstrate value for money by managing and delivering agreed benefits, while gathering and sharing workforce-related projects to standardise practice, reduce variation, and improve quality and patient safety. The post holder will produce complex project documentation such as options appraisals and evaluations. They will report trends, risks, and progress to the AHP Council and ICS People Board. Finally, they will strategically plan programmes by identifying interdependencies, stakeholder impacts, resource requirements, and contingency measures to ensure timely and effective delivery of all projects.
