We are looking for a passionate and motivated Health Educator to join our Health Inequalities Team at Royal Papworth Hospital. If you have a strong interest in health promotion, weight management, and behaviour change, this is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact.

You will play a key role in supporting patients to adopt healthier lifestyles, particularly those at greater risk of poor health outcomes. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, you will provide tailored advice and interventions that contribute to improving public health.

Main duties of the job

As a Health Educator, you will:

*Support patients in making sustainable lifestyle changes through structured interventions and behavioural coaching.

*Deliver weight management education to individuals and groups, focusing on diet, exercise, and overall well-being.

*Conduct health assessments, including BMI calculations and risk screenings, to guide personalised care plans.

*Engage with diverse patient populations, including those facing health inequalities, ensuring inclusive and accessible support.

*Maintain accurate records and contribute to research and service evaluations to improve health outcomes.

*Work collaboratively with clinical teams, partner organisations, and community services to enhance patient care pathways.

We are seeking candidates with:

*Experience in health education, nutrition, weight management, or behaviour change support.

*Strong communication and motivational skills to engage patients effectively.

*Knowledge of basic medical terminology and public health principles.

*Experience in data collection and documentation to support research and service improvement.

*The ability to work independently while contributing to a supportive and innovative team.

*Ability and willingness to uphold the Trust Values: Compassion, Excellence Collaboration, and associated behaviour standards always.

Essential

  • Diploma or equivalent appropriate qualification, e.g. foundation degree; or NVQ3 level qualification plus short courses or relevant experience to diploma level
  • Level 3 Diploma in Personal Training, Exercise Referral, or Health & Wellbeing Coaching

Desirable

  • Level 3 or 4 qualification in Nutrition Dietetics, Sport Science or Weight Management
  • Advanced / Level 4Excercise, Obesity and Diabetes course

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working as a practitioner, therapies or rehabilitation assistant
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology, cardiothoracic conditions and associated surgery
  • Experience in weight management, nutrition, or physical activity promotion (e.g., working in a healthcare, community, or public health setting
  • Demonstrate organisational skills, Ability to prioritise workload and work independently, but recognise when to seek qualified advice.
  • Knowledge of basic nutrition principles and dietary guidelines relevant to weight management and long-term health.
  • Experience delivering health education sessions on topics such as nutrition, exercise, and weight management in one-on-one or group settings.
  • Understanding of behaviour change techniques to support patients in making sustainable lifestyle changes.

  • Experience with documentation in Electronic Patient Records.
  • Experience of delivering exercise virtually
