Job summary

We are looking for a motivated, curious, inquisitive, dynamic manager to work as part of the Thoracic & Ambulatory & Surgical Operations team to manager and improve the Cancer pathway.

You will have a clear understanding of the cancer targets, as well as be mature enough in your professional knowledge to be confident and possess the ability to challenge progress as well as the ability to support teams to resolve issues to progress the patients journey. You will also have a vision and appetite to improve and modernise pathways and to improve communication across the various teams as well as improve patient access, equity.

About the team/department.

This role is an exciting opportunity to work across two divisions within Royal Papworth Hospital.

Our Thoracic Operations Team lead, manage and support our specialist team to treat Thoracic patients under 6 specialities, RSSC, CCLI, PVDU, Oncology, ILD, Sleep service.

The role will mean working in the surgical division to manage patient treatment of Thoracic Surgery. There is a positive and supportive culture within the department and the whole team works hard to ensure new members receive a warm welcome.

Main duties of the job

Working together with the clinical teams you will be responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of a range of operational and cancer quality standards. An excellent knowledge of the cancer targets is essential. You will be actively involved in the development of care pathways that will improve the quality of the Oncology services we are able to offer to our patients.

The role demands excellent prioritisation skills, problem-solving abilities and a collaborative approach. You will have experience in management/leadership with an eye for detail and excellent interpersonal skills with proven experience of working operationally in an NHS environment.

You will need to be resilient, flexible to changing daily priorities and remain calm under pressure. In return you will receive an excellent support network, training opportunities and a real chance to excel within a highly motivated team.
