Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen at Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust for an Advanced Clinical Practitioner to join the ALERT Team and provide trust wide support to all clinical areas in the management of the deteriorating patient.

We are seeking knowledgeable, innovative and enthusiastic acute care nurses who are interested in advanced clinical assessment and in improving patient safety to all patients at risk of deterioration. You will be specifically involved in implementing the recommendations within the NICE CG50 guidance across the whole trust.

Under the leadership of the Lead Nurses, you will work with a team of senior nurses to provide a 24-hour service. This will include advanced clinical assessment of patients from the cardiothoracic specialty as well as supporting patients who have been discharged from Critical Care and those requiring timely admission to Critical Care. The post holders will be required to undertake 12 hour shifts equally across both days and nights.

The Advanced Clinical Practitioners take an active role in educating and supporting members of the multidisciplinary team through formal and informal educational opportunities as well as seeking to further their own professional development. Experience of teaching and educational delivery would be advantageous.

Main duties of the job

This advanced level of practice is benchmarked against the Multi-professional Framework for Advanced Clinical Practice (2017) which encompasses four pillars of clinical practice, leadership, management, education & research. You will be required to keep a portfolio to evidence core capabilities. You should be educated to a minimum of a degree level and possess Advanced Skills in Clinical Assessment and Non-Medical Prescribing qualifications to Master's Level. ALS qualifications are also desirable.

You should have extensive experience at Band 6/7 in an acute care setting, such as High Dependency, CCU, or Critical Care. You'll need to work autonomously, demonstrating strong initiative, along with excellent communication, clinical, and organisational skills.

If you do not hold the required essential courses but have extensive experience as above, a band 6 trainee ACP position may be considered.
