The Role

As the Head of Digital, you will report directly to the Deputy CIO, assuming full responsibility for the operational management, performance, and compliance of the Digital department. This role is essential for smooth service delivery, to drive and deliver trust's Beyond Value Digital Strategy, and also to lead a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:

Digital Leadership: Provide strategic leadership to the Digital department, aligning our digital strategy with the Trust's broader objectives.

Service Management: Lead the continuous improvement of digital services, ensuring they are efficient, cost-effective, and meet the evolving needs of the Trust.

Team Development: Cultivate a positive and innovative work culture, mentoring and guiding a highly skilled digital team to deliver excellent IT services.

Digital Transformation: Oversee key digital transformation projects, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.

Governance & Compliance: Ensure the department complies with all regulations, including data protection, IT security, risk management and performance review

Financial Oversight: Manage digital budgets, including capital and revenue, Ensure that digital capital funding is spent as required and CIP targets are achieved by effectively allocating resources

What We're Looking For:

Proven leadership in digital transformation.

Strong understanding of ITIL Service Management, Managing successful Programme and Agile delivery methodologies and the ability to manage complex digital programmes and projects.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex digital concepts to diverse audiences.

Experience managing budgets and overseeing large-scale digital initiatives.

A commitment to fostering a collaborative and innovative team culture.

Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is the UK's leading heart and lung hospital, delivering care to more than 50,000 patients a year in its new state-of-the-art hospital in Cambridge. We perform the most heart and/or lung transplants in the UK and carried out the UK's first successful heart transplant in 1979.
