Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen to provide senior clinical and strategic leadership to the Pharmacy Department (in conjunction with the Chief Pharmacist and substantive Deputy Chief Pharmacist). The post holder will ensure compliance with professional standards, legislation, clinical governance, quality of care delivery and risk management.

The current post holder will be working with the Digital team on the implementation of the new EPR and a need to backfill some of their deputy chief pharmacist role is therefore necessary. This secondment is initially for 6 months, however it may be extended if the business case for the new EPR is successful.

We are looking for a pharmacist with a background in clinical pharmacy services within a hospital environment. You will need to have experience in line management, project management, team leadership and medicines safety.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic pharmacist with a post graduate clinical pharmacy diploma. You should have good organisational and task prioritisation skills and demonstrate good empathetic and listening skills.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will:

Provide strategic and operational leadership for the pharmacy department

Deputise for the Chief Pharmacist in their absence

Line manage a number of pharmacists and senior pharmacy technicians

Represent the pharmacy team at Trust and ICS level, providing input into pathways and initiatives that involve the use of medicines

Responsibilities will be shared with the substantive post holder, how they are assigned will depend on the strengths and relative skill set of the successful candidate.
