Specialist Pharmacist Transplantation and Advanced Heart Failure

Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

The closing date is 06 October 2024

Job summary

A unique opportunity has arisen within our pharmacy department to be a part of our specialised Transplantation team of pharmacists.

Royal Papworth Hospital invites you to join our team, providing high quality pharmaceutical care to patients in our specialist cardio-respiratory centre. The pharmacy department sits at the heart of our state-of-the-art, digitally enabled hospital.

In this role, you will provide essential clinical pharmacy services to patients pre heart and lung transplantation surgery, through the pathway from immediate post-operative to discharge care and follow up. You will work closely with the Transplant multi-disciplinary team, attending consultant ward rounds and MDT weekly meetings and contributing to budgetary management with the directorate and finance department staff. The successful candidate will have a background in critical care, surgery, or transplantation.

We welcome diversity in our department and look to celebrate the unique contribution of each team member. As a team we are supportive of flexible and part-time working and would look to agree a working pattern which meets the needs of both the individual and the service.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will:

*Be responsible for the provision of specialist clinical pharmacy services to patients who have been referred for, are being bridged for, or have undergone heart and lung transplantation.

*Promote safe prescribing practice and medicines optimisation by providing expert pharmaceutical advice to transplantation clinicians and other members of the transplant team.

*Monitor and analyse medicines expenditure within the transplant service, and to advise the manager and clinical lead responsible for transplant accordingly.

As a senior member of the pharmacy department, you will line manage a small number of pharmacists. We are dedicated to the development of line managers, providing access to leadership development programmes to enhance management and leadership skills.
