Main duties of the job

As a Stores Assistant in the TCCA Department, your key duties involve maintaining optimal stock levels to support excellent patient care. This includes performing regular stock takes and audits, ordering supplies, and utilizing bar code readers and computer systems for inventory management. You will engage in physical tasks such as manual handling and transporting items, adhering to safety standards and using proper techniques. Managing damaged or outdated items and maintaining accurate records in line with hospital policies are also crucial responsibilities.

Effective communication is essential, as you will interact with a diverse range of healthcare professionals and suppliers to fulfil stock needs and resolve issues. Proficiency in both verbal and written communication is necessary for updating the stores team and negotiating stock requisitions. Collaboration within the storekeeping team is vital to ensure continuous cover during leave periods. We seek candidates with strong customer service skills, teamwork abilities, and experience in similar roles, particularly within healthcare settings. Familiarity with stock management systems and the ability to adapt to new technologies are also important. Full training will be provided to help you excel in this role.
