Job summary

Royal Papworth Hospital is a world-renowned heart and lung specialist hospital based on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus and a pioneer in cardiovascular and respiratory medicine.

This is an exciting new opportunity to support our growing internal communications function and lead on Foundation Trust membership engagement which encompasses communication with staff, patients and members of the public.

We are searching for a highly motivated and creative communicator who will be responsible for coordinating content across all of our internal and some external channels.

The post holder will report to the senior internal communications and engagement manager, working closely with them to plan, create and deliver daily, high-quality communications which keep our audiences informed and engaged about the things that matter the most to them.

This position is also responsible for managing our patient information leaflet system, as well as leading our communications and engagement plans to support recruitment and maintenance of our patient and public membership of the NHS Foundation Trust.

Main duties of the job

Work closely with our senior internal communications and engagement manager to develop and deliver the Trust's internal communications and employee engagement strategy.

Lead on certain projects as required to communicate complex and sensitive service or transformational changes across internal channels.

Generate ideas about how we can target hard-to-reach staff groups and understand their needs to develop more effective internal communications and engagement ideas.

Design and produce a range of communication materials, either analogue (posters) or digital (intranet sliders, video, digital signage), to convey key messages to our staff.

Write, edit and proofread content for our Trust intranet, weekly all-staff newsletter, weekly briefings, and - when required - website and social media channels.

Be the departmental lead for our patient information leaflets system. Manage the end-to-end process of revising, editing and ordering leaflets to ensure they are reviewed, updated and approved before publication.

Lead on communications and engagement for our foundation trust membership, in line with the trust membership strategy agreed by the Council of Governors, including delivery of the Annual Members' Meeting.

Plan and deliver creative campaigns to promote trust membership, the Council of Governors, and governor elections.

Be part of a 24/7 on-call rota to provide weekend and evening communications support to the Trust.
