Job summary
The key duty is to work as part of the sleep laboratory team to providing a sleep diagnostics service and supporting the management team in planning and quality control of the service. This will include:
*Prepare patients and set up equipment for polysomnography,
*Analyse, interpret and report respiratory polygraphy and actigraphy studies.
*Assessment of patients referred to the sleep services by clinical interview and report outcomes to their care teams.
*Represent the Department to the wider hospital. Working with other Departments and clinical teams as necessary.
*Support the development of the Sleep Laboratory service so it continues to meet clinical need
*Actively participate in research, audit and service evaluation.
Main duties of the job
The duties of this role are described fully in the role profile included. They include:
*Independently take the lead in running the home respiratory polygraphy service. This includes setting up equipment, downloading data as well as scoring, interpreting and reporting the study outcomes.
*Score, interpret and report home actigraphy studies
*Assess and set patients up for in-patient polysomnography including maintaining patient safety and providing care where appropriate as well as troubleshooting any technical difficulties.
*You will be expected to work within our multidisciplinary team but be responsible for managing your workload and prioritising work appropriately.
*Be adaptable to the changing needs of the management and department.
*Support junior team members of the team and act as a mentor, as well as support students during placements with the department
*Preparing and maintaining updates to departmental SOPs
*Opportunities to be involved in audit and research will be available from time to time.
