As a Senior Specialist Pharmacist for Critical Care, you'll collaborate with a team of pharmacists to deliver a comprehensive clinical pharmacy service to our critical care and theatres business units. Your role will involve providing high-quality pharmaceutical care to cardiothoracic critical care patients, including those following medical and surgical pathways, as well as individuals undergoing Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) treatment. While prior experience in cardiothoracic critical care is advantageous, we are committed to supporting candidates in developing the specialised expertise required for this role.
Main duties of the job
In this role you will:
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patients' pharmaceutical care, undertaking bedside reviews and attending multidisciplinary ward rounds and meetings
- Provide input to the development of guidelines and policies within your area of expertise.
- Support safe and effective medicines management in theatres and critical care settings.
- Mentor and train senior rotational pharmacists within the Critical Care unit.
In addition to your clinical responsibilities, you will play a pivotal role in promoting safe medicines management within Critical Care and Theatres environments. You'll have the opportunity to lead quality improvement initiatives or research projects and deliver training sessions to various clinical staff members.
As a senior member of the pharmacy department, you will line manage a small number of pharmacists and contribute to our senior pharmacist team. We are dedicated the development of line managers, providing access to leadership development programmes to enhance management and leadership skills.
