We are seeking an independent, organised and motivated administrator to come and work as part of our busy Pulmonary Vascular Disease Unit.

Our specialist clinicians support and treat patients with Pulmonary Hypertension (PH). We are the only NHS centre in the UK commissioned to provide Balloon Pulmonary Angioplasty (BPA).

The post holder will be based at Royal Papworth Hospital and will support the specialist nurses with administrative tasks. The successful candidate will provide a patient focused, high quality, efficient and complete administrative support service.

You will work within a multi-disciplinary team including clinicians, managers, national Pulmonary Hypertension referring centres and other administrative staff in a professional manner in written, verbal, and electronic formats.

Main duties of the job

This is a busy role based with the Pulmonary Hypertension Nurse Specialists. There is a need to work as an effective team member to deliver a high-quality customer service. The role involves dealing with patients professionally and sensitively on the telephone.

Provide a co-ordinated but flexible approach to the organisation of patient's electronic notes, letters, referrals, and documentation. Co-ordinate outreach clinics. Booking and admin related tasks for the PH and BPA service, cross covering when required within the wider PVDU admin team.

Following training, input data into Lorenzo and the PH Database. Be competent and proficient in the use of relevant IT systems. Keep email up to date including shared mailboxes (i.e. PH Nurses and BPA nurses), forwarding any important messages as necessary. Receive and sort incoming/outgoing mail.

Keep an accurate record of equipment and machines, which are located with patients and to ensure dates are logged and actioned appropriately. Generate BPA outpatient clinic letters and letters to GP for patients. Take minutes of departmental and team meetings as and when required. On occasions book travel arrangements for Nurse Specialists and Consultants. Run reports and check for missing data, validation where required.

Identifying and obtaining blood test results from GP's and other health care professionals safely recording onto relevant system. Assisting with rostering and booking of training for the nursing team.
