Job summary

Our Pharmacy team is looking for an enthusiastic pharmacist wanting to begin or advance their career in clinical pharmacy in our specialist cardio-respiratory centre.

Royal Papworth is known for its specialist services in cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, respiratory medicine (including pulmonary hypertension, cystic fibrosis, and sleep medicine), and cardiothoracic critical care. As a core clinical department, our pharmacy team plays a key role in optimising the pharmaceutical care of both inpatients and outpatients within the Trust. The pharmacy department is set at the heart of our modern, digitally enabled hospital. Our rotational clinical pharmacists work alongside pharmacist and pharmacy technician colleagues to provide a comprehensive pharmacy service to a division or department for a period of approximately 6 months, before moving on to a new specialty.

We welcome applicants from any pharmacy sector, including foundation trainee pharmacists who anticipate joining the register in summer 2024. Following the completion of a comprehensive induction, pharmacists are supported to undertake further training on funded Newly Qualified Pharmacist or Postgraduate Diploma programmes.

Main duties of the job

This role is primarily ward-based, where you will collaborate with colleagues from pharmacy and the wider multidisciplinary team to be provide high-quality pharmaceutical care to a range of clinical specialities. You will be supported do this and develop as a practitioner by your rotation supervisor, line manager, and our pharmacy education and training team. As a member of our clinical pharmacy service, you will be required to work weekends, participate in the evening and on call services on a rota basis.

As a team, we're keen to promote personal development and would look to support the successful candidate with educational opportunities appropriate the individual's learning needs and aspirations. We have supported previous post-holders with post-graduate qualifications, and attendance at a range of shorter courses, conferences, and workshops.
